Back into the game.

15th May 2070

Six, Ki-Rin, Sickle, Ono (Glyph), Ash.

The runners Slowly came round. Hands bound behind their backs, on the floor of a crumbling brick building. The Duke stood over them and asked them a few questions. He found out that Horizon had sent the runners to investigate the goings on of Perfect Shooter but little else. The duke didn’t care anyway, these runners were in way over their heads, he had arranged for them to die and then their bodies would be found in some flat, months from now.

He told the runners that his recruits were on an exercise to track and kill the runners, and then to hinder them further, he levelled his gun and shot Drifter.
Dropping the runners a knife to give them a sporting chance, he turned and left.

Drifter was mortally wounded, if he wasn’t evacuated soon, he would die from blood loss and shock.
The runners cut their bonds and fled into the forest, headed for what they thought was west, to where they hoped was some civilisation.

A decker called Lamb had approached sickle. She told him that a bunch of runners were in trouble, and these runners might know a bit more information about the run that she is currently involved in. She wanted Sickle to track them down and help them escape.

Stumbling across a small three-man patrol, the runners set up an ambush, armed with a knife, a metal bar, and half a house brick they leapt and panned the surprised young soldiers. Arming up with the dropped weapons, the runners now felt that they had a fighting chance.

The runners were Tracked and found by Sickle. After they exchanged a few words and they realised that he was here to help, he dropped the bombshell. The runners were in the Perfect Shooter mainframe. Only the ASIST overrides had been turned off, so death in the game resulted neural death for the meat body. Sickle also told the runners that his contact Lamb had programmed a back door out of the program, all they would have to do is get to the farm where the code was embedded and escape.

The runners made their way to the farm and found that it was the spawning point for the game players. Two hummers were parked outside with what appeared to be the game coordinator directing the dispersal of the soldiers.

The runner’s split up, with assault rifles trained on the CO, the rest stole round to the rear. They stumbled in two guards, and opened fire, this kicked off the fight and the sound of discharging weapons echoed around the computer simulation.

After a prolonged firelight the runners found the back door and went through. Coming round the runners found themselves in a slummy building near Seattle downtown. Drifter was out cold and had to be disconnected, as had Ono, only when the cables were pulled from Ono’s head did he convulse once, let out a gasp, and then was still.

Ono was dead.

The runners cleared out. They wanted to get back to San Fran, once they had spoken to the people who helped them escape. And they tracked them down to a Vory club in Seattle downtown.

Thanking Lamb, and the man who had come to their aid, Sickle, the runners met another. Called Glyph, she seemed to be fire support, drafted in by Lamb in case this meeting was less cordial. Glyph was a San Franciscan, out here for whatever reason.

Lamb explained that she was a runner, investigating the death of the Ares programmed AI, Thetis. This AI maintained the Ares satellite network (which includes military and civilian communications) but was destroyed by some line of code. Thetis transmitted two words before it was deleted. Eclipse, and Dreamseed.

Lamb discovered a few bits and pieces about Eclipse and Dreamseed, but not enough. She discovered that the runners were coded for termination and decided that if they were enemies of Cross Applied Technologies, then they may be of some use to her.

Eclipse was a strip of code salvaged from the first matrix crash. This code was modified and instigated the second crash of 2064. And now it appears it was involved with the destruction of Thetis. Dreamseed appears to be some program run by Cross Applied. Broken down into three parts. War, Malady and Trickery. Lamb had also found that there were two other people involved in the project. People outside Cross. A decker called Download, and someone known as Silk. She was going after the Download but wanted the runners to track Silk.

The runners wanted to head back to San Fran though. Six had taken Ono’s death badly, and they were all battered and tired. They left.

Ash was keen to wrap up the payment from Horizon and arranged a meet with Gage. But it seemed Horizon were not happy that the runners had got all of the info about Dreamseed. Six stormed out of the meeting, Ash had a shouting match with their contact but there was little he could do. Ki-Rin negotiated further funding, and agreed to continue with the job, Gage also got Glyph and Sickle onboard.

The runners had some down time. Six dedicated a piece of poetry to Ono’s memory, the others relaxed and healed up. Six needed some time to get over the passing of the man who had saved his life a few times. The others waited for the time to go.

Thursday 29th May 2070.

The runners got back together. Meeting outside Ki-Rin’s apartment. They briefly discussed what was to come, before jumping into the cars, and heading back to Seattle.

Run 10. Perfect Shooter pt2 (storage depot)

Friday May 12th 2070

Six, Ash, Ki-Rin, Ono, Drifter.

Drifter took a job. Simple delivery run, collect a package and deliver it to a corporate depot. The helicopter that dropped him off, took off and left him with a big long walk home.
Setting off he flicked on his PAN to call a cab, and found that a couple of runners he knew were less than a mile away. Drifter put the call through, and they met up.

Once the runners found out that Drifter had been into the same depot that they were heading to, Ki-Rin and Drifter set off back to have a good scout, they found the compound was secure, but a series of 6 air con vents positioned outside the perimeter fence which seemed a better access than trying a full frontal assault.

Falling back to the van they outlined their plan, cut through the vent covers and with the aid of climbing gear drop down into the tubing and explore from there.

After a brief visit to Richmond to buy up the necessary kit, the runners were in position by nightfall. They hid the rented Avis truck in a ditch and leopard crawled to the vent. Six burnt through the heavy grill that covered the vent and Ono held it so it didn’t fall. After they gained access they re positioned the grill with Drifter up on the surface to clear up and keep watch.

The runners crawled through vents for over an hour before they came across the first view of the underground base through a large vent. The drop into the underground marshalling yard was to high and the security was tight so they backed off to find a better entry point.

Descending another level they found an air extractor vent went directly into an empty office. Slipping inside they were pleased to find it was the base commanders office an ex-British army office who called himself the Duke. Ki-Rin knew of him from his days in the service, and knew that he was a bit of a wild card.

Six rummaged through the filing cabinets and found Ash’s brother file, and took a few more for evidence.

The runners then felt that they hadn’t got enough info from here and were going to go looking for more, Ki-Rin went active on his PAN and started hacking the computer systems, this put the base on alert. Guards descended on their location and the runners had to fight hard.

Beating the guards back the runners welded shut a door to the rest of the base, this stopped them from being attacked from the rear as they pulled back out of the base through the vent systems.

Drifter was not having such and easy time of it. Hauling 400 metres of rope back to the van he was an easy target for the patrol that was already searching for something funny out near the vents. Drifter practically stumbled into the two guards who set up near the rental 4x4.

Duke monitored the COM burble from his patrols and decided that these insurgents must be trying to retreat the way they came in, and when he heard about the runner captured he took a squad to meet the runners coming out of the vent.

Six was the first to clamber out of the tube, glancing over he saw that Drifter was on his knees with a gun pressed to the back of his head, Six spotted more soldiers guns trained on him, on the vent, and on Drifter. Six painted the targets with his PAN for the others to pick up on then pretended to comply with the demands to lay down. Six had hung onto the tailored golf putter found in Dukes office and hefted it once before bringing it hard down across the side of one of the soldiers faces.

Ono, the next in the pipe was slow to react and the sound of gunfire rattles across the forest. Ono eventually flew out but was hit with a hail of bullets, Ki-Rin emerged next, dropping one of the young shooters, and Ash used the pipe to give him some cover as he returned fire.

Six was already down; Drifter received a swift blow to the back of his head, which knocked the spark out of him. Ki-Rin was dropped by two bursts and Ash was shot and fell back into the pipe unconscious.

Ono, the troll, stood as he was hit by multiple rounds, his friends dropped around him, he bellowed and charged, sword drawn at Duke. A single shot rang out and the troll slumped to the ground.

Duke stood smelling the cordite in the air. He needed these runners alive to get some answers out of them. He ordered the Soldiers to replace the stick/shock rounds for the standard ammo clips, and to carry the unconscious forms into the supply depot.

Run 9. Perfect Shooter

Saturday April 15th 2070

Six, Ki-Rin, Ash, Ono.

Six got a call from Kitty, There was a race meet and its new owner was thrashing about Six’s old car.
Six knew he couldn’t race for pinks, so resolved to race a kiddie he had beaten a few times already, a quick 5grand if he wins the race.

Six did win, but it was tight.

Friday April 28th 2070

Ash gets a call from a Mr. Gage. He invites the runners out to dinner in the most expensive hotel in San Francisco. Over lobster he tells the runners that he works for the marketing company Horizon, and that they have been running an advertising campaign for the Perfect Shooter simsense game.

Trouble is, the board of directors have heard Perfect Shooter spoken about in the same breath as Dreamseed, and they don’t know what this Dreamseed is. Will it affect their marketing strategy?

Although Gage doesn’t think so, the run’s pay is very rich 100,000 a piece, and the runners find it very hard to turn him down.

They retired back to Ki-Rin’s place and got down to some investigations. Ki-Rin, Six, and Ash all bought the game Perfect Shooter and began playing immediately. They all loved it; Real time FPS credits accrued power up game. The games engine was as good as real life and some of the other players in there could be professional solders the way they handled themselves.

Ki-Rin looked at the back code but found nothing suspicious, Six hit the game forum and asked about Dreamseed, and one user entertained the idea. Ono hit the internet and found a book called the Dreamseed theory; he went out to Waterstones and picked up a copy of the weighty tome.

Ono read through the book, the first few pages he read avidly, but slowly lost interest, and the book was completed by skim reading in short order. It’s main thrust was about the 4th 5th and 6th world, and the way mana ebbs and flows, the books conclusion was that the world would end in some kind of demon infested scourge.

Failing to see any connection to the Perfect Shooter game, the ideas were generally put on the back burner.

Six received an email from one of the games, with a few simple words. Dreamseed War. Dreamseed Trickery. Dreamseed Malady. The email also detailed an address, 1244 Denny Tower, Seattle. The runners mused the info further and discussed at length heading out to Seattle.

Eventually they did, choosing Ash’s boat as the best way to get past security border and such. The ride was arduous but they made it to rainy Seattle in the early hours of the next morning.

After spending the night in a hotel, Six acquired a 4x4 crew cab from Avis truck rentals and the runners headed over to the address. Upon opening the door the runners were hit with the stench of decaying corpses. 2 lay bloated and blackened from 3 weeks of decay. Carefully looking around the house the runners found a photo of three flatmates, one of which was Ash’s younger brother, the other two… now dead. They also found a letter to a MR. Joshua Philips congratulating him on winning the Perfect Shooter tournament and inviting Josh to attend Cross Applied Technologies to pick up his grant.

Ash quickly guessed that his little bros had changed his name and got out of shadowrunning while Ash was in jail. The scary thing is that he also seems to have drawn a weapon and shot his flatmates in cold blood because of this Perfect Shooter game.

The runners wanted to find out what happened when players entered into the grand tournaments, but getting the required credits was proving time consuming. They tired cheating to no avail, and then decided to piggy back another player and join him in a tournament when he accrued the required points.

Ki-Rin was rewarded when his carefully edited computer code returned the PAN of someone who had been invited to join the tourney. Following the data trail, he found the player in the real world, but couldn’t trace where the tournament arena was. It was being re routed through a multitude of Satellites, a trick Ki-Rin learned of in the military.

The runners went round to this kids house and watched him and his family (and the postman) for two weeks. They scrutinised the mail but didn’t manage to intercept the golden letter from Perfect Shooter.

Someone thought about heading back into the CATCo mainframe and searching for Joshua Philips’ name and see what that turned up, they weren’t surprised when his name appeared to have been logged, but then was changed to 145-Seattle. This code name then seems to have been shipped out to a CATCo storage depot in the North Cascades National Park.

May 12th 2070

The runners headed off with their new lead. And came across the area designated as the CATCo storage depot. Sneaking through the dense forest surrounding the depot, Ash and Ki-Rin came across a AR red line on their PAN’s. A visual warning told them that they would be subject to corporate law if they were caught, and they decide to not get found… And then Ki-Rin thought about their PAN’s and the fact that they tripped off an automated warning. Rather than press on into trouble they backed off to come back without their Comms broadcasting to the world.

Run 7a. Highway Piracy

Friday 24th March 2070 03:40am

Six, Ki-Rin, Drifter, Ono, Ash.

Six, Ash, and Ono met Ki-Rin and Drifter in the same café that Mr. Mason left a few minutes before so that they could discuss how to help Snow out of this hole he found himself in.

He was trying to make contacts within the Yakuza and agreed to source some military armaments and took payments for the goods. The goods were coming in from Seattle and didn’t arrive. The Yakuza were getting concerned that their new friend was trying to stitch them, and it was only a matter of time before they paid Snow a visit. Snow called his San Fran runners to see if they could help him out.

Ki-Rin had already been approached by a contact, Mancini, who himself had been approached by a man calling himself The Merchant. He was offering to sell a very similar list of weaponry and they suspected that Snow’s guns were already stolen and being flogged on the black market.

Drifter wanted to find out more information on the runners who were running the guns over the boarder and he got Ki-Rin to search the Matrix on Hazard and Swordfish. Ki-Rin found that both were well respected runners and both had their Comlinks on and pinpointed their location about 200 miles north, in Death Valley.

They were separated by about 40 miles, the first, Hazard seemed to be along I55 and the other comlink signal was out in the desert. After much deliberation they decided that heading out in the desert was preferable to waiting for the Merchant to call back with this sale. They got themselves a couple of hours of kip, before hiring a van and heading out.

The runners headed in convoy, with Six and Ki-Rin blasting ahead along the near deserted blacktop. Driving past a warehouse which had sprung up on the interstate, Ki-Rin detected the PAN of Hazard, they U turned and headed back to a nearby petrol station to wait for the others driving in the slower van.

They decided to bust in, Drifter on the roof, Ki-Rin Ono and Six through the door. Six shot out the door, Ki-Rin rolled in some flash bangs before stepping in and Stick-Shocking one of the men who were caught unawares. Ono Strode in and smacked the other guy in the face with his big troll fist. Drifter shot out the skylight and fell into the warehouse.

Room cleared in a phase, and the only injury was sustained from hitting a transit van roof at speed. The runners found a Battered Red Ranger inside and discovered the PAN was coming from a smashed helmet which was inside. They were about to bring round the two men and begin questioning them when Drifter discovered that they were lonestar Border patrol, and this warehouse was where they stored wrecked vehicles. They left the unconscious forms and split before the alarm was raised.

Heading out toward the other Comlink signal, the runners find that it is coming from a rocky rise in the desert. A bit of looking around they discover the crash site of the Red-Ranger, and further investigation by Six and Drifter locate where the VTOL was immobilised with a electric pulse delivered through a net strung across a shallow gulley that is used by smugglers.

Ki-Rin and Ono discovered the bodies of the runners, shot dead, and then see a young lad watching them. They follow him and see him stood out in the open between two high banks of rocks. As he turns to run Ki-Rin shoots his leg off.

Ki-Rin and Ono make their way toward the boy and too late realise that they have strolled into an ambush, the kid as bait. They come under heavy fire from both sides shot at from the high rock walls. Hearing gunfire the rest of the runners dash to their aid, and quickly turn the fight on the ambushers. They try to flee on a couple of quads but are brought down before they get too far.

The equipment they were using was top notch. Brand new rifles, APDS rounds. The runners fancy that the cache of weapons is being split up and used by these bandits. Looking to where they were trying to flee the runners see an abandoned gold mine about half a mile away, and they mount up on the remaining quad bikes and head out across the desert at speed.

From range the runners start taking fire from snipers on the roof of a mine building, and they find themselves dodging and weaving on the speeding quads.

As the runners got close they split up and began to engage the targets. Ash tried to ride at full tilt under a slowly opening shutter door, smacking his head. Dazed he then fell at the feet of a gunman who drilled him. Drifter began to clear out the only other building, and when he tossed a pipe bomb the enemy sped out.

Ash was brought round and followed behind Ki-Rin assuming it was safer behind. Ki-Rin attracted the attention of a man wielding two rocket launchers and was forced to dodge a rocket. Ash was less lucky and was hit. Blasted off his feet his clothes living up to his name.

In short order the runners cleared out the rest of the desert pirates and found most of the military equipment. They loaded it into the back of the hovercraft that the Merchant had been using to move around the desert and retired back to San Francisco.

They handed over the goods to the Yakuza and gave Snow the stolen hovercraft and other scavenged equipment to sell on to recover some money.

With that they went home…
A few days pass, and Ash feeling better got Six to do some work on his sisters car. Ash owes her a favour or two. And the runners waited for the next job.

Run 7 blackmail bloomfield pt. 2

Six, Ki-Rin, Drifter, Ono, Ash.

Friday 24th March 2070 01:20am

Nunzio’s yacht turned south into the crook of San Francisco and the pilot powered up the Victor Emanuell II towards the executive housing along the shoreline. Ash and Ono took up a sedate pursuit in another stolen dingy and Six blasted back north toward Ash’s boat again.

Ki-Rin received a phone call from Mancini, his army buddy. Mancini had received a call from someone calling himself the Merchant who was offering a job lot on some military hardware, Mancini couldn’t get the 200k needed so was trying to put together a syndicate to buy the merchandise and then sell it on. Ki-Rin was interested but had to go and find the money.

Six got Ash’s speedboat and sped to meet the others who were floating about half a click away watching the goings on with the mafia boat. The Victor Emanuell II had docked at a private pontoon. Nunzio and his men ran up the stairs to the house and disappeared from sight.

With the yacht abandoned, the runners moved in, taking a wide berth they pulled up alongside and Ono slipped aboard. Going below decks he found a briefcase and a safe. He ripped the safe from its flush fitting cupboard when Snow conference called the runners.

Snow had a problem. The Yakuza were on his back as Snow had arranged to source a shipment of arms for the Yaks and this arsenal didn’t turn up. The Yakuza were getting edgy and Snow had to get his best runners looking for the missing cache. He told them that he had been in Seattle and had sourced some reliable runners, Hazard and Swordfish, to run the guns across the boarder only they hadn’t turned up.

Six, Ash and Ono were in the middle of another run, and to highlight the point, the sound of gunshots rang out. Ki-Rin and Drifter started work on Snow’s problem.

A body tumbled into the sea from the house above. Rafael Pizzolo a Mafia patriarch was dead and Nunzio was making power moves. The runners had to split, and to ensure that they weren’t followed by the motor yacht they began to slowly tow it out to sea while Ono hauled the heavy safe out of the mafia boat.

Escaping they cut the yacht free and Ono did a bit of waterskiing, and the runners recovered to the docks to check out the booty that they had taken from the mafia. The safe contained a bit of cash, and the briefcase contained the evidence that Nunzio had set up a front company called Delta construction, and for some reason Delta were tendering for the same work as Mr. Mason’s company.

The runners got the evidence that they required and handed it over to Mr. Mason. He was pleased and paid up.

The runners then had to help out their fixer Snow.

Run 6. Blackmail Bloomfield pt. 1.

Six, Ash, Ono.

The runners settled into a bit of downtime. Ash looked into purchasing some land not far from San Francisco but the cost was prohibitive for the moment. Ono began learning a new martial art form, which combines adept powers with martial skill, Sune-ku Jitsu. Six trawled the small adds for second hand cars, eventually he bought a smashed up performance car, and sourced an awesome V8 which had been restored by a skilled mechanic, Six began to repair the car and marry up the whopping motor.

Thursday 23rd March 2070.

Daisy, Ash’s sister and decker contact feeds the team a lead when she finds a shadowrun job posted on the matrix. The abrupt businessman, Mr. Mason calls Ash and arranges to meet the whole team at Carries Diner.

Mr. Mason informs the runners that he owns a construction company and he wants to win a lucrative contract from the Tomorrow Today project, which is ploughing money into redeveloping the San Francisco area through grants and taxes. Although he might win the contact on merit, he is keen to get some blackmail-able dirt on Danny Bloomfield, the governor who will choose the contractors, to ensure he gets the work.

The run was straightforward; get something on Bloomfield before noon 25th March to earn 15k. Mr. Mason was not a man to mince his words, and he made it quite clear that he wouldn’t be paying for half arsed, grainy paparazzi shots of Bloomfield with his wife.

Bloomfield wasn’t elected for a second term as city governor for being stupid, and the runners found nothing regarding his financial records, his family (close or extended), his habits untoward, and they didn’t cover any ground investigative reporters hadn’t.

Daisy turned up a meeting in Bloomfield’s diary with a Mr. Caznotti for this evening, and Six suspected it was his own brother, Nunzio, who had connections to a different family, the Mafia. The runners set about tailing Bloomfield armed with a high power still/trid camera, and late in the evening they followed him to the East Side Marina, where luxury yachts and Gin Palaces are moored.

Six’s brother, Nunzio, a Mafia man, met Bloomfield on the quayside. He escorted the governor to the Victor Emanuell II, a vessel owned by Caesar holdings. The runners closed in on the boat to get their evidence of wrong doings when the boat pulled out of the mooring and headed out to deep ocean.

Ash and Ono stole a small dinghy and took up the pursuit, Six who was already on the road headed to North Beach, where Ash had a more powerful speedboat.
Unable to keep up with the yacht Ash and Ono were please to see Six powering out to meet them, one they transferred to Ash’s boat they took up the pursuit and within 20 minutes they got a visual on the boat, circling in international waters.

Ono snapped up the binoculars and saw two men at the back of the boat staring back at them through binoculars. They realised they may have been spotted, and fearing that they would be shot if they got too close, and fearing that they would die of hypothermia if they swam out, they withdrew to capture some images of the party once they returned.

They took Ash’s boat back to its moorings and returned to East Side Marina. All of them failed to notice the quiet mafia limo, which remained in the corner of the car park and they set up to watch the comings and goings.

The boat came back and Nunzio showed Bloomfield back to the limo. The luxury car then departed. Nunzio returned to the Victor Emanuell II and headed below deck to talk to his cohorts. Keen to get some more evidence the runners tried to get onboard but fear of being spotted by mafia goons kept all but Ash at bay. Ash swam close and climbed up a fender rope, he listened for a short while as the men talked about women and sport, after about 20 minutes of gasbagging, Nunzio took a phone call and they moved out again, powering up the Yacht engines.

Ash dropped back into the sea and swam/waded to shore to steal the only other dinghy on the spit of beach. Six gunned his engine and began to speed back towards Ash’s boat on North Beach, unaware that Nunzio was about to turn south.

Run 4. The Notable Anarchists Pt. 2

Six, Ki-Rin, Ono.

The runners were tasked with finding and bringing to Cross Applied Technologies a man who has been masterminding a guerrilla war waged on the corporation’s assets. One man who knew how to get in touch with this Juggler was a St. Doc. Called Mal. He would part with the information if the runners got hold of a bit of medical equipment called an NeruoToxin blood filter. NTF. The runners had found one of these expensive bits of equipment at a Docwagon facility but were thwarted by the security measures put in place…

Friday 10th March 2070

The runners pull back from the hit on the Docwagon place due to insurmountable security and Ki-Rin hooks up to the net and finds that a Medicare US hospital has two of these machines. Medicare doesn’t have the resources to throw as security in the same way Docwagon do, so they head on over to the medical centre to see what they can find.

A few hours of mooching around the hospital turns up one of these machines hooked up to a patient, the other in an operating theatre. Ki-Rin gets the idea to instruct the hospital via the Matrix that the machine is due for transfer and gets hacking to make it happen.

Six heads off to acquire a ford Americar estate from Hertz-San-Fran. Legally hiring the car, he then preps some fake plates and ditches the RFID tag. The team of runner’s head back to the hospital to “collect” the NTF machine, Ono ran distraction while Ki-Rin and Six took the unit with barely a sniff from security.

Taking the unit back to the St. Doc, they get paid the agreed amount and Mal tells them about the time he tried to save three Notable Anarchists after they got shot up on a job-gone-sour. The Juggler told him to go to Clive’s Dive and gave Mal a code phrase to use if the St. Doc. Wanted to get in touch with him. This phrase Mal passed to the runners.

Saturday 11th March 2070

The runners went to Clives dive, Six had already made contact with the bald headed owner, Clive, so didn’t want to use the code. Ki-Rin opted to lead this part of the investigation, with Ono in situ as heavy back up.

What is the best way to get people to accept change? Ki-Rin posed the question, and Clive replied it’s not to give them a choice! Clive, a signed up member of the Notable Anarchists went to inform the cell who were operating from his bar that someone had used the code and eventually sent Ki-Rin to meet the men gathered upstairs.

O’Bannon, the leader of this little cell introduced his gang. King, a black human, Shortstock the dwarf, Builder another human and Book the bespectacled man with his head in a book.

They were planning a hit on Cross applied technologies and Ki-Rin was given the option to get involved. Ki-Rin suggested that he could blow up a substation as a distraction this would surely draw the heat away from the real hit. They shook hands and agreed a time.

Ki-Rin made his way to the substation, with a contact called Flash who loved his explosions, unaware that O’Bannon had tipped off Lone Star about the attack on the substation to draw the cops away from their real target 15 miles away. Ki-Rin did manage to blow the sub-station, but had to make a flighty getaway.

A couple of hours later, the runners got together and Ki-Rin phoned O’Bannon to find out what happened. O’Bannon invited him back to the club where they could talk some more. The Notable Anarchist cell leader revealed to Ki-Rin that he had not told him the truth about their intended target, and that he had phoned Lone Star himself so that they would be successful. O’Bannon revealed to Ki-Rin the hostage that had been taken by the rest of the cell, a Cross Applied Technologies Employee, The runners contact and paymaster for the job to bring in The Juggler, Mr. Johnson.

O’Bannon decided to take Ki-Rin to meet the Juggler and after meeting and liking the young decker he gave him a phone on which he would call when he wanted Ki-Rin’s input.

Meanwhile Ono took it upon himself to rescue the Mr. Johnson. Kicking the door down, the big troll was met by Clive, who was not about to have his Dive trashed by this runner. They fought and the ruckus downstairs brought the rest of the notable Anarchists down to the aid of their man, the enigmatic Book took the Troll down with a spell and he slipped into a deep sleep.

Ki-Rin had met the target, The Juggler, and was now waiting for the call.

The Notable Anarchists captured the runners contact, Mr. Johnson, and Ono joined him when superior numbers thwarted his rescue attempt.

Six was unable to help either Ono or Ki-Rin and felt guilty for letting his team down. He made some hurried phone calls and roused everyone he knows to start scanning the streets for the Americar that O’Bannon drives.

Run 3. The Notable Anarchists Pt. 1

Friday 10th March 2070

Six, Ki-Rin, Ono

Five days had passed since the sortie on the Shopping Mall. Lone Star have been keeping an eye on a couple of the runners who they think could have been involved but the arrest orders have been belayed for the time being. Ash decided to lie really low, took his boat and went fishing.

Snow had headed off to Seattle but received a call from a Mr. Johnson who wanted to put a team together. Unable to do the meet, Snow passed the job direct to the team who were happy to have a talk with the suit.

The Johnson was from Cross Applied Technologies and he wanted to employ the runners to find the man leading a series of guerrilla attacks on CAT properties and bring him to the corporation for questioning.

The terrorist group proclaimed to be called The Notable Anarchists and apart from a still photo taken from a security video, nothing was really known about the leader of this group. The runners started the legwork as soon as the Johnson left. Ki-Rin let his computer programs do the searching, while Six tapped his contacts.

In a short space of time, Ki-Rin had found that this group had been active for about 18 months, and were deemed to be “low risk”. All records of the leader had been purged from the matrix, but a file photo of a young man who looked like their elven guerrilla leader, who was involved in a riot 15 years ago put a name, The Juggler, to his face. Ono got hold of some security footage of one of the raids and analysed the technique and guessed that these raids were well co-ordinated and could be the work of runners.

The team surmised that there was more to this man and his activities than first seemed but they couldn’t place his motives. Was he a disgruntled ex-employee? Was he a shadowrunner himself who was working for a rival corp? Was he some kind of fixer, lining up these hits on Cross Applied Technologies?

Six went out to check out some neo-anarchist styled bars, and managed to convince the owner of Clives-Dive that he was a wannabe anarchist and arranged to come back to talk about starting some activist type activities. On his way back to tell the rest of the team about his success, a driver in a SAAB Dante goaded Six into a bit of a street race. Six took the bait and after Six had filled 5 minutes of the unmarked cop cars camera with illegal driving, the Dante flicked on his blues and twos. Six booted it, and the Dante lost the street racer…. For now.

The team were at a loss, and contacted Snow to see what he could deduce of the evidence they had gathered so far. Snow quickly read through the info that they sent him and noticed that a couple of the Notable Anarchists had been killed in a raid against another company, he made a few calls following up that lead.

He came back with the name of a St. Doc. Called Mal, who was at the scene of this attack and had tended to the mortally wounded before Lone Star arrived. The runners headed straight round to 3rd Street Gym, where Mal ran his clinic.

Mal claimed to know of the Juggler, and offered to help but at a price. He wanted an expensive bit of medical kit for his street surgery. And would tell the runners what they needed to know if they got it for him. This NTF Neuro Toxin blood Filter machine cost a cool two mil, and although surprised when Ki-Rin demanded a kick back for getting the machine, he was prepared to empty the street clinics coffers of 10k to get this machine from the runner.

The runners headed off to a new Docwagon facility to see what all the fuss was about these machines. Docwagon have a very tight security system, and although Six tried every which way (including submitting his CV and real ID to Docwagon to get a job) he couldn’t get close to one of these machines.

The runners withdrew to consider their options and decided that a less well-funded private clinic could be the answer, and Ki-Rin searched the matrix for some locations. Medicare US has two of these machines at their San Francisco hospital, and although the private clinic was still in an AAA zone, they fancied that the well-funded Docwagon HQ was to be a more difficult nut to crack.

With that they headed off…

Run 2. The shopping centre hit.

Sunday 05/03/2070

Six, Ash, Ki-Rin, Ono.

Snow had a job passed his way from a Mr. Johnson who worked for Control Monitor Systems. The Californian based security firm had recently lost the contract for guarding a shopping mall to a rival company called Allied Defense Group.

Snow took the job confident that he knew a few people who would be up for the task, and in addition he had found a competent decker who he thought would prove invaluable on this run.

The premise was simple. 5 grand incentive for a team of shadowrunners to breech the mall security prove that ADG aren’t up to the task after that CMS can then re-tender for the work. The runners can keep anything that they deicide to half inch, and if CMS win the contract back, they will wire another 10 grand as thanks.

Snow had picked out 4 companies who would be good to target especially. The owners of these shops are influential people and having their property hit would reinforce the argument to reinstate CMS as the mall security firm.

The runners took the job and instantly headed out for a bit of legwork. First port of call, Stonestown shopping mall to have a look at what they would be up against. Splitting up they began taking a note of the store security. Security was tighter than they expected for a small shopping centre.

Ki-Rin, the decker, clipped a RFI transmitter to one of the security scanner pillars bold as brass dressed as an engineer. A clever blag had Ki-Rin being helped by one of the store security guards to breech store security.

Ash headed away from the mall toward the beach, he rustled up a couple of surfing mates who had a bit of history with street crime. He told them about the hit that they would be doing and these characters, Phil and Freddie Fingers (on account of having all of his fingers bitten off by a shark) joined the party.

Six and Ono took in guard numbers, security rotations, cameras etc. and by about 8:30pm they had a sort of plan. Ash and Ono recovered to a bar nearby, Six and Ki-Rin stayed on and watched the night time security.

By the time the team had gathered there was a smidge of a plan. Hit the mall at 01:00 tomorrow night. Smash into a couple of stores and rob the designer apparel, burn down the other shops. Bypass the security somehow…

Six also arranged for a few street racer mates to turn up, to run distraction and to help raid the shops once they were in. It would be noisy but with luck it would pay off.

Ki-Rin did a bit of legwork on the company who took over the shopping centre and discovered that Frost Financial Group not only owned Allied Defence Group but were propping up their failing finances with a side in the distribution of illegal Trip Chips. If they were distributing chips from this mall, it would explain the excessive security.

The information changed nothing and it was disregarded.

The following night the runners were met by Phil and Freddie, and shortly after were joined by 14 street racers who wanted a bit of the action.

Ki-Rin and Ono headed underground and while Ki-Rin did battle with the security decker, Ono got fighty. Six and Ash (backed up by the surfer dudes and some of the street racers) smashed into the store and began taking on the store guards.

The alarm was sounded, but with a bit of clever coding Ki-Rin supressed it and transmitted the all clear to Lone Star. Unsure if the call had been made before he quashed the alarm they didn’t hang around for long.

They raided a few stores and burned the others and then fled into the city. Lone Star had managed to get a helicopter into the air but with many vehicles fleeing the scene they had a hard time keeping track. But with coordinated Lone Star resources they were able to keep tabs on a couple of vehicles.

A few arrests were made. Lone Star promise that more will follow.

The team split and slept the rest of the night. After calling Snow in the morning they were able to fence the knocked off watches and clothes, which made them a few more nuyen, and the deed was done.

Snow arranged for one of his contacts to buy up the stolen goods, he skimmed off a little of the profit but sent the rest to his new team. He got back home and watched the previous nights events on the trideo.

The job had been done. Not with the finesses that he had hoped. More hammer than surgical knife but …
He walked over to the phone standing on his desk and made a call.

Run 1. The golden revolvers.

01/03/2070
Ash. Six. Ono.

The runners were gathered by Hugh Washington. The Albino man who goes by the street name of Snow is new to San Francisco and is keen to establish a shadowrunner presence.

Snow found out through his contacts that the police Captain, Duncan Croner, was the victim of a burglary, and is keen to recover a couple of items which had sentimental value to him. Namely a photo album, and a pair of antique 1800’s revolvers, both of which were in the safe, which had been stolen.

To win a favour or two from the lone star captain, Snow put together a small running team who, if lucky, would be able to track down these items before Lone Star do.
Ash, the man with a network of local contacts.
A wheels man by the name of Six.
And the muscle in case things get ugly, Ono.
A good compact team of runners who should be able to cope with this little run.

They did a bit of legwork, and in a short space of time discovered that the perps were probably Hispanic. And that the van used for the robbery was hired from SF Truck Rentals, by a girl with memorable breasts called Tiki Gomez.

Contacts were put into action to identify them and eventually an address for Tiki Gomez appeared. She wasn’t home when the runners went asking, but a friend of her boyfriend was. He didn’t take to kindly to being asked questions about the robbery, and tried to chase off Ono and Ash with a gun. He ended in the bathroom with a badly wounded arm answering Ash’s questions.

Meanwhile Six sat with the vehicles keeping an eye on one of the street gangs. He called one over and asked him what he knew about Tiki, and her man.

Between them the runner found out that the man who masterminded the robbery was called Jesus Raul, and that he was headed off to commit another crime, this time a robbery of a jewellery store. Using the stolen duelling revolvers.

(Raul fancied changing his crime name to something like Golden Guns and had delusions of having a crime wave named after him and these antique pistols, which were going to be his trademark.)

There are a lot of jewellery stores in San Francisco, but one of the commercial areas in the city stuck in the mind where 6 likely shops were in close proximity.

Arriving the runners split up and Ash was the first to spot a shop which was closed. Upon closer inspection he saw a woman bound in the store.
The runners moved in, Ono went to the front of the store and started rattling the doors which alerted the 3 robbers inside. Ash and Six went round the back and broke in through the rear door.

The sounds of gunshots rang out, and Ono was felled under a hail of shotgun and SMG fire, Six and Ash fought their way from the rear of the building and found Ono unconscious next to Six’s helpfully placed Medibot.
Getting away from the scene as Lone Star closed in with Ono and Raul unconscious in the back of the van. They needed medical help and fast. Ringing around they were given the address of an elderly street doc who introduced himself simply as Doc. He took payments from Snow to attend the poorly forms of the two men, and asked Ash and Six to come back in the morning.

The following morning Ono was up on his feet. The runners took Jesus from the doc’s place and stuck a gun in his face. Still suffering from his injuries, Jesus told the team about that he didn’t know about the photo album but guessed that if it was in the safe, then it would still be in the lockup where he blew the safe open. He directed the runners there, and sure enough the photo album was present.

The runners left Jesus injured but alive, and headed to Snow’s apartment.

Snow was really pleased to receive the items and paid the runners in full. And has marked their cards for further work.

Captain, Duncan Croner was also really pleased to receive his antique revolvers and his photo album, and he let Snow know that he owed a favour or two.
